FIVE FIST BUMPING MOMENTS AT AUDI NINES MTB

Sep 202018

After an incredible week of non-stop action from the quarry of the Audi Nines, we’ve tried to piece together the most mind-blowing moments for your viewing pleasure. Deep in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany, Sam Reynolds and Clemens Kaudela carved an insane Freeride and Slopestyle course that tested the world’s best Mountain Bikers.

Strap in and prepare for lift off….

1. SAM REYNOLD’S FREERIDE LINE CAPTURED BY TEAM BLACKSHEEP

“It felt like a level on a Playstation game! This whole place is like a Playstation game!”

“The location worried us at first, we weren’t sure if it would live up to the previous location in the Alps with the epic views. But once the “moon props” came in, like the satellite dish and all the cool ramps, the venue actually had a lot more character than ever before. It’s the most unique location I’ve ever ridden a bike in,” - Sam Reynolds.

You heard it from the man himself, Commander Sam Reynolds was heavily involved in designing, building, testing and of course, riding the 2018 Audi Nines course in it's entirety. Sam definitely leveled up this year with this creation. He also later went on to taking 1st place in the Freeride contest with a run that oozed big classic tricks and signature Reynolds style.

2. ADOLF SILVA’S WORLD FIRST CALI ROLL ON A DOWNHILL BIKE

It's no secret Adolf Silva is a maniac—once he steps on his bike it's go time. Hit play and lay your eyes on the first ever Cali Roll on a Big Bike at the 2018 Audi Nines MTB.

"Finally getting to land a Cali Roll made the week for me. It feels so good to have gotten it down because I’ve been trying it for a couple months now. It just seemed like it was never going to work, after literally hundreds of attempts, not in the foam, not on dirt or the airbag. Then this week it finally worked out on a real jump so I’m really stoked to have gotten it done." - Adolf Silva

3. SAM PILGRIM FRONT FLIPPING AN E-BIKE

Yep, you read that right!  Watch the clip above to see it all go down, Sam's reaction is just priceless.

"One of the bikes I brought to the event is pretty weird and new to the sport, it’s a HAI bike all mountain 10.0 E-bike, which has a Yamaha motor in it, it weighs around 23kg which is almost double the weight of my slope/jump bike. I just thought “what the hell”, it will be a fun challenge to see what tricks you can actually do with these machines, plus I can just cruise to the top of the hill faster than anyone without even breaking a sweat, lol"

Sam also went on to bringing home Ruler of the Week and dominated the Slopestyle competition with an insane run. "I won the best MTB event of the year and I can't believe it! Audi nines has been amazing and I'm so stoked to have been selected as ruler of the week and also winning best slopestyle line too! The Audi Nines event is the best mountain bike event because you get to ride whenever you feel best and that means it's way more relaxed than normal contests. It's also sick to just hang out with your friends with no pressure and smash laps of an insane course!" Sam Pilgrim

4. THE “BIGGEST AND SAFEST” BIG AIR JUMP EVER BUILT

We all know by now that the Audi Nines are synonymous with massive tricks and endless progression. Couple that with what the riders were calling the "biggest and safest" jump ever built, you have the recipe for success. Our resident Slopestyle contest assassin Max Fredriksson was on hand to dish out his deep bag of tricks, some of which included triple tailwhips and a backflip bar to whip just to name a few...

"I’m really feeling the big air one, it’s one of the best jumps I’ve ever hit because it’s quite a bit bigger than the usual and it gives a you a bit more airtime to really explore what’s possible and push your limits." - Max Fredriksson.

5. WORLD CUP RACER BRENDAN FAIRCLOUGH SENDING A BACKFLIP FOR THE BOYS!

A surprise last minute addition to the Audi nines line-up was World Cup racer and overall legend Brendan Fairlcough, who took on the full course fresh off his World Cup season. Stoked to be out here with some of his Freeride mates, Brendan had to throw a backy for the boys: “I just did a big backflip to Dirt for the first time in a while and I’ve got the biggest grin on my face…”

It’s always good to see Brendog enjoying life outside of the race tape!

A special shout out also goes to Utah Freeride shredder Ethan Nell, who undoubtably has the best 360's in the MTB game. Check out his 3rd place Freeride line entry if you need proof!

Now that the dust has settled, it's over and out from The Audi Nines. Moon mission accomplished!
