Fort William MTB World Cup Preview 2016

On the 4th & 5th of June the World’s best Mountain Bike riders will descend on the Scottish town of Fort William for what has become one of the most iconic rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. 2016 will play host to the 3rd round of the season after an eventful start saw the world tour hit Lourdes in France for the season opener and Cairns, Australia for round 2. The season would have seen over a month break after an epic showdown in Australia between Monster Energy’s local boy Troy Brosnan and and Loic Bruni. With the down time between races giving riders a chance to dial in their bikes and take advantage of the British Down Hill Series stop at Fort William, round 3 is set to be a highlight of the 2016 seasThe Fort William Track: The Fort William World Cup track sits directly under the Gondola of the Nevis Range Ski resort and has played host to World Cup racing and World Championships since 2002. Voted the best World Cup event for 3 consecutive years the brutal 4-5 minute long course has a vertical drop of 525 meters and is 2.66km in length. The track begins from the top gondola station winding its way down the open face of the Nevis range before plunging in to the woods. Huge speeds and technical rock gardens challenge the riders to the up most before hitting the ever famous ‘Motor Way’ section as the riders jump in to the finish area with record numbers of fans screaming for their favourites as they cross line. Jump on board with Steve Peat and Check out the 2014 course preview:
