Gatebil 2017 Friday

Gatebil Rudskogen celebrates 100

Jul 102017

Hitting the mid summer in full boost, the highly anticipated Gatebil Rudskogen Festival in southern Norway is the ultimate track day and music festival mash up. Every year over 40,000 drift fans, racers, and party-goers descend on the sprawling Rudskogen Motorsenter paddock to enjoy three days of horsepower, shred, and music.

For driver’s trackside, there's no let up in the intensity either. This year Baggsy, Casey Currie, Dmitriy Illyuk, Luke Woodham, and Lunatics By Nature's very own Sultan Al Qassimi shared the blacktop with 1000bhp street sleepers, competition-spec drift builds, and flame-popping circuit machines.

Marking the event's 100th edition, Gatebil 2017 at Rudskogen celebrated tyre slaying since 1993, with a triple threat of Super-3 Team Drifting on Friday, the Powerslide Competition on Saturday and Sunday, and the ‘After Track’ stage headlined by award winning DJ Dany Neville; bringing the noise after-hours once the final flag had dropped.

What's more Super-3 Team Monster Energy a.k.a Baggsy, Sultan and Luke, kept it tight and on-lock, nailing third place in Saturday's competition. Don't just take our word it though, check out what our athletes had to say for yourself…

Casey Currie
“It's one of the sickest events that I've ever been too - I'm so stoked to be here. The crowds, the atmosphere, and the track time - everything is just off the hook. Driving my Pro2 Truck on the circuit surrounded by grip and drift cars is crazy. I don't have an e-brake like the other cars so I was just coming into the turns on full throttle, flicking it in, and then powering through. Huge thank you to all the fans and organisers that turned out this weekend, even with the rain showers we had on Saturday it was awesome. I can't wait to come back next year for sure.”

Dany Neville
“It's been an awesome couple of days at Gatebil Rudskogen in Norway - the vibes from the crowd at the After Track stage during my set, not to mention the fans in the grandstands around the circuit were so positive. I've got an intense work and travel schedule at the moment - so I was only able to stay for Thursday and Friday, but next time I'm going to aim to hang out for longer. My team mates from Lunatics By Nature and Monster Energy did an awesome job representing for the rest of the weekend.”

Dmitriy Illyuk
“The freedom here at Gatebil is amazing. If you want to drive all day you can, if you want to hang out with friends and party in the paddock you can – it’s such a unique event; it’s a real paradise for petrolheads. Last year we brought “The Drako” as a showcar – it was pretty new, and we weren’t running at full power; but this year we are running at full attack mode. It’s running at 1100bhp – it’s one of the most powerful competition cars in the world. I love driving it – and Gatebil is the perfect place to do it.”
