The international motocross season wrapped with the 71st Motocross of Nations at a muddy and damp Matterley Basin on October 1st. The climate might be been typical of early winter but the vast and revered circuit was a pressure cooker for the likes of Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle with thousands of eyes and hopes drilled onto the three-man Team GBR.
The Kawasaki man was forced out of the first moto with a broken clutch and the use of this ‘DNF’ as the team’s ‘joker result’ meant that the other five classifications by Searle and teammates Max Anstie and Dean Wilson really had to count towards the final score.
To his relief and also unadulterated joy Searle made sure of crucial points in his second race.
Get up close with some of the thoughts, trepidations and (finally) the elation of a very special day for British motorcycle sport.
