Right before COVID-19 reared its ugly head, Monster Energy team riders Grant Taylor and Ishod Wair hopped in a bus with the Maka Lassi posse for a wild trip. The video of this trip is LIVE at the Thrasher site now and it's a great reminder of how hectic the mixture of skateboards and a short school bus can really be.
Dubbed "GT's Magic Maka Bus," this barely street-legal carpet ride was an anything-goes freedom zone, traveling from Atlanta, Georgia, to the Tampa Pro contest down in Florida. What seems like a 6-hour hop, skip, and a jump for most people is anything but for the Maka boys—this fearless crew are down for a detour at every turn. And may God help you if you get in their way.
The journey started at Atlanta's famed Black Blocks, with various unplanned pit stops for surfboards, Domino's pizza, and creative toupees, and six days later the crew somehow ended up in Tampa… leaving a trail of carnage in their wake. When you get two Skater Of The Year's like GT and Ishod crossing state lines, things can turn federal real fast.
