Gymkhana GRiD Livestream Audience turns up the heat

Nov 302017

It came at you live and loud from Johannesburg South Africa for four hours of uncensored tyre slaying.

And while the grandstands of Carnival City were packed out, the virtual audiences were just as busy; with the global livestream hitting a record 2.3 million views across social media; 25% more compared to previous broadcasts of Gymkhana GRiD.

In total 22 international channels, including Unilad, Car Throttle, Volkswagen Motorsport, HPI Racing, Hoonigan, and AutoBild shared the livestream; bringing audiences a taste of the clutch kicking action at GRiD’s inaugural South African event.

Billed under #AutoCIRCUS powered by AutoTrader; Gymkhana GRiD’s 6th edition saw 2017 FIA World Rallycross Drivers' Champion Johan Kristoffersson win the All-Wheel Drive Category, ahead of Petter Solberg and Andreas Bakkerud.

While the rear-wheel drive spoils were taken by Luke Woodham – who beat rival UK drivers Adam Elder and Danny Cross – en-route to his fourth consecutive GRiD title.

“The whole event in Johannesburg, South Africa was amazing – Monster Energy and the organisers have done an incredible job.

“It’s been tons of fun to drive, and even just to watch has been so much fun. I’m just stoked to continue Gymkhana GRiD and hope it gets bigger and better in the future! Thank you to all the fans that have come out to watch us race; it’s been an absolute blast!”
