Gatebil On Ice

Liam Doran Vs. Gatebil on Ice

Feb 012016

While most European teams will be tucked up in warm workshops prepping for the season ahead, a hardcore group of racers and drifters ventured out to Norway last weekend for what is now known as Gatebil on Ice. Hosted on the frozen lakes of Sigdal, around two hours west of Oslo, the ice-racing come track-day mashup is the perfect way to blast away the winter blues, and drop the flag on a fresh season of fan-favorite Gatebil events.

"That`s so much fun. Seriously some of the most fun I`ve had in my car,” a stoked Liam told us after his final run. “I can`t believe how awesome those tyres are. I was having to weave around the traffic on the tighter track, but I still had enough control to fully link turns and send it in sideways. I was at the top of sixth gear on the big circuit layout, which just feels crazy on ice.

“Because of the small fuel tank we run for rallycross races, I only had enough fuel to run for a couple of laps at a time – I wanted to stay out longer. The whole event has just been a lot of fun, and to top it off we came away with some trophies; runner up in the powerslide contest, and second place in the ‘snow and shine’. Not bad for rallycross competition car. I can’t wait to do it all again.”

“Like what you saw? Then stay tuned for more on World RX 2016, which starts on April 15th, as well as Gatebil Rudskogen on the 8th – 10th July. ”
