Some of top downhill riders from all over Europe came down to Wisla in Poland last weekend to fight in the European Downhill Championship, for the second time in a row held as a part of the Diverse Donwhill Contest series. Despite a scorching weather, hundreds of fans gathered along the always demanding downhill course on the Stożek Hill.
Riders from twelve countries competed in nine categories. As usual though, the most anticipated contest was the final of Elite Men.
Local fans were pleased to see two Polish riders finishing on the podium - Wojciech Czermak took 3rd ( (2:15.300), just behind Lutz Weber from Switzerland (2:14.606) and Sławomir Łukasik (2:13.692) who has become the new European Champion.
The Diverse Downhill Contest weekend in Wisła was full of action with the final day preceded by Monster Energy Whip Contest on Saturday evening, when Sixteen riders tried their chances in a whip jam session. All of them had thirty minutes to bend their bikes in the most stylish way.
Hugo Robenek, James Hurst and Kuba Żbikowski got the most applause from the fans and best notes from the judges, leaving Wisła with stuff from Monster Energy.
