MMA’s Best Fights of 2021 So Far

Sep 212021

Whether you’re watching it live or watching recaps, MMA fights have everyone saying, “Oh shit!” at least once. Calling bullshit? Keep scrolling to see 2021’s most brutal fights, the purest definition of Unleashing the Beast.

UFC 264: O’Malley vs Moutinho

“Suga” Sean O’ Malley proved he’s not that sweet when he basically took Kris Moutinho’s face off at UFC 264. Shit got so bad, the ref called the fight with a TKO before Kris’ girlfriend wouldn’t recognize him.

Bellator 266: Davis vs Romero

“Mr. Wonderful” carries Romero to defeat in Bellator 266… literally. The dude barely got a chance to use his legs. Phil Davis put the ‘mixed’ in mixed martial arts and doubled down on his wrestling, repeatedly taking the fight to the ground, and finished with punishing ground-and-pound.

UFC 263: Moreno vs Figueiredo

Moreno annihilates Figueiredo with a Rear-Naked Choke. Which, if you didn’t figure out from the name of it, is really fucking painful. Talk about some blood, sweat, and tears. The two had previously fought in December 2020 at UFC 256, which ended in a majority draw after Round 5 with Figueiredo retaining the title, immediately calling for a rematch at UFC 263.

Bellator 260: Pico vs Lee

Aaron Pico conjured a submission victory from Aiden Lee at Bellator 260 and we can’t blame him. The first two rounds saw Pico constantly improving ground positions while landing punishing ground-and-pound to Lee’s body and head, and in the third round, Pico dominated Lee to submission with his anaconda choke.

UFC Vegas 29: Vera vs Grant

After three intense and bloody rounds, Vera earned the victory... kneed we say more?

UFC Vegas 32: Barber v Maverick

23-year-old Barber was seen as the underdog going into the fight against Miranda Maverick. After watching that fight all we can say is: If sheer pain was a photo, this would be it. Who called her the underdog again?

Bellator 258: Archuleta vs. Pettis

Bellator 258 had the two Monster Energy fighters ready. During a key moment in Round 4, Archuleta fired a flurry of fast strike combos, only to take a heavy counter right hand to the head that can only be described as explosive. Any guesses as to who drank more Monster before the fight?
