Monster Energy athlete Cameron Waters has claimed his maiden career win in the Supercars Championship with an epic victory at the Sandown 500 in Melbourne. Waters and Kiwi co-driver Richie Stanaway capitalised after putting their #6 Monster Energy Ford on Pole and led the famous 500 from start to finish for a huge win down under.
“I don’t know what to say... I’m so pumped!” Waters said.
“I didn’t know if I was going to hold him [Scott McLaughlin] off at the end there but managed to hold the gap and won and yeah I’m just so pumped.
“This win is for all the guys in the team for putting the hours in and pushing the upgrades through and of course this guy [Richie Stanaway] did a bloody mega job, got me the lead and I managed to hold onto it so it’s just an awesome day!”
