Oktagon 26: The most beautiful tournament of the year knows its champion

Aug 032021

The world is slowly returning to normal and MMA fans could enjoy their first Oktagon 26 tournament live in audience this year. And it was the most beautiful one of the entire calendar. More than five thousand fans filled the stands of the open-air stadium in Prague's Štvanice and thousands more watched the tournament on screens at the nearby Oktagon Summer Fest, where leading Czech and Slovak rappers, including Rytmus, PSH or Marpo performed on Friday after weighing and on Saturday before the tournament. On the festival grounds, fans could also test their strength on a special Monster Energy boxing simulator with the assistance of Monster Girls, and the best result of each day was rewarded with gifts from the Octagon MMA and Monster Energy.

The tournament itself once again had an unbeatable atmosphere full of Mexican waves, electrifying walk-ins and light shows, and again there were also fireworks. Fight card contained twelve matches, which brought a lot of exciting moments. The main match of the evening - the five-round war for the interim middleweight title between Marcin Naruszczka and Samuel Krištofič - was won by the second nominee, who will compete for a valid title with Karlos Vémola.

Almost after two years, Miloš Petrášek returned to OKTAGON victoriously, destroying the Croatian Vlad Neferanovič in the first round. Matúš Juráček, who defeated the Spaniard Tata Primera, scored a close victory in an exhausting duel. "It's really tough and I had no idea who won until the announcement. I think it was a draw, "said Juráček, to whom the referees attributed a 2: 1 win. "The first round was for Matúš, the second for me and I think I was better in the third. But the judges saw it differently and I take it, "said Primera.

Slovakian Lucia Szabová was the most successful in the women's fights, defeating the Swede Cornelia Holm and receiving a bonus for the performance of the evening. The other two domestic fighters Magdaléna Šormová and Tereza Bledá claimed victory in the 1st round. On the other hand, the first loss in the Oktagon went to the UFC veteran Lucie Pudilová, who was defeated by Brazilian Talita Bernard.
