Cameron Waters Podium Finish - V8 Supercars Adelaide500

Podium Finish for Cameron Waters at Adelaide500

Mar 032019

In a super scorching weekend down at the Superloop Adelaide500, the Monster Mustang crossed the finish line in second place in Race 2 securing Cameron Waters a podium finish in the first round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. This is Waters’ best finish overall since he won the Sandown500 in 2017. The podium finish comes as a satisfying reward after Race 1 on Saturday where on a day where ambient temperatures neared 40 degrees Celcius, the Monster Mustang finished 22nd after the team was forced to change his cool box during a Lap 19 pit stop. Waters, who was adamant that the conditions hadn’t affected him at that point, lost 14 laps while the team replaced the cooling system, scuttling his hopes for a podium finish after starting the race from the second row after the qualifiers.

"The cool box failed on the grid, for whatever reason, and I was trucking around pretty good in the early going. I train hard all year for when those kind of situations happen, and Supercars called me in."

"It’s a little bit of redemption. Yesterday we had good pace, I don’t know if we had pace for a podium, but we’ve definitely made improvements overnight, and it does make up a little bit for yesterday.” Cam stated.
