2016 Canadian Motocross Nationals Round 1 in Kamloops, BC

Podium Finish for Mike Alessi at MX Nationals in Nanaimo

Jun 122016

Round two of the CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals took place this past weekend, at the Wasteland’s MX Facility near Nanaimo, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island.

In MX1, Mike Alessi had a great day. In moto one, he took the checkered flag in second place, but was bumped up to the win when Davi Millsaps was penalized for jumping on a medic flag. A fifth place in moto two gave him second overall on the day. He now sits third in the MX1 Championship standings.

Vince Friese started his day out strong, logging the quickest time in qualifying to take the pole position. Unfortunately, a crash in moto one knocked him out of the running for the day.

In MX2, Mark Worth made his team debut in place of the injured Jacob Hayes and was quick right out of the gate. Worth grabbed the moto one holeshot and led the opening laps before a tip over knocked him back to tenth. After getting taken out on the opening lap of moto two, Worth charged from last place all the way back to fifth place to give him sixth overall on the day, a solid result for only getting a brief ride on the new bike on Saturday before Sunday’s race.
