Poppy and Royce Da 5’9” Nominated for 2021 GRAMMY Awards

Nov 252020

Monster Energy would like to congratulate its spectacular artists who were nominated for 2021 GRAMMY Awards!

In the Best Metal Performance category, the self-proclaimed genre-defying Poppy made history as the first female solo artist ever nominated in the category, receiving the honor for her ferocious “BLOODMONEY.”  The track is from Poppy’s latest album, I Disagree — one that critics have referred to as heavy-metal-meets-pop. In a January interview with Loudwire, Poppy pushed back on that notion, pointing to her music as being post-genre.

Detroit rapper Royce Da 5’9” was nominated for Best Rap Album for The Allegory, featuring DJ Premier, T.I., Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, KXNG Crooked, Vince Staples, Westside Gunn and more. The album, which NME proclaimed “a lesson in lyricism,” follows up Royce’s 2018 hit record, Book of Ryan, which debuted at No. 58 on the Billboard 200 chart

Monster Energy Music artists are a huge presence in the music industry across all musical genres — and nothing showcases this more than recognition from The Recording Academy. Let’s have a round of applause for the Monster Energy Music artists that are making it happen...and here’s to some big wins on January 31, 2021!
