Rapsody drops long awaited “Laila’s Wisdom” album

Sep 272017

Rapsody’s long awaited second studio album “Laila’s Wisdom” was dropped on the world earlier this week. Her first collaboration with Roc Nation is an exploratory journey set to preserve knowledge that has been passed down, giving listeners a sense of confidence and the ability to conquer any self-doubt. The album is made up of 14 impressive tracks including the latest single “Power” which features Kendrick Lamar and Lance SkIIIWalker. On top of this collaboration, Rapsody has also managed to partner with some of the hugest names in Hip-Hop including 9th Wonder, Black Thought, Terrace Martin, Young Guru, Paak, and Anderson to really make the album shine.

“I just think it touches on different topics, there is a love section in there, about three or four songs, that’s dedicated to all the stages of love you go through”

When asked of the theme behind the album Rapsody tells “I just think it touches on different topics, there is a love section in there, about three or four songs, that’s dedicated to all the stages of love you go through: the happy, the good times, the not-so-good times, the I don’t really want to be with you no more, the ‘Yo I just met this new dude and I’m really feeling him,’ you know, you have that story. You have a song about depression. You have one about confidence--a few about confidence like “Black & Ugly.” There’s “Power.” I think it just touches on different emotions.”

It is clear that Rap’ has spent the past year fine-tuning her storytelling and honing her lyrical skills. Her effort does not go unnoticed when presenting her masterpiece aimed at the ‘true hip-hop fan’ who loves to dissect an album’s content, discovering the deeper meanings. In a world of a trap and overused Auto-Tune technology, Laila’s Wisdom is refreshing to the traditional hip-hop crowd, yet her classic and timeless sound will please any fan of the genre.
