Richard Tury dominated the World Cup Skateboarding series event Grand Prix Beroun

Jun 272017

Eight year of Grand Prix Beroun, which was also the third year of the event under WCS, took place on Saturday 24th of June. Skateboarders from 20 different countries were competing in categories PRO, AM and of course the favourite discipline Best Trick.

Slovak Monster rider Richard “Rišo” Tury, won the best trick as well as the PRO category. The areal was filled with the record number of 6000 fans this year, who despite really hot weather, created an incredible atmosphere and driven all riders to maximum performances. After the announcement of the results, there was a music show including artists such as DJ Wich, Paulie Garand and Marpo & Troublegang.

The whole day started already at 10 am, with the AMATEUR category. Out of the 32 amateur riders, the top nine riders were given opportunity to take part in the finals and win three invitations to PRO race. The winners were Arthur Molon, Kristian Nguyen and Frederik Lupták, who shown extraordinary performances.

The AM category was followed by short lunch break and qualification of the PRO category including really amazing performances from local and world’s best riders. The finals included names such as Benjamin Garcia (FRA), Tomáš Stejskal (CZ), Scott Decenzo (BR), Maxim Habanec (CZ), Richard Tury (SK), Martin Pek (CZ), Lucas Alves (BR), Maxim Kruglov (RUS) and Olio Matias Dell (ARG).

Girls had traditionally their own category and they proved to all the spectators, that we should count with them on the skate scene. The girls final was won by Julia Brueckler (AUT), followed by Ariadne de Souza Silveira (BRA) an Keet Oldenbueving (HOL).

The most expected final of the PRO category started at 17:00 and despite very balanced performances, only one person could win. And we are glad that it was our Monster rider Rišo Tury, who landed almost everything and didn’t give the others any space for mistakes. He rode in the same heat as other locals such as last year’s winner Martin Pek and Maxim Habanec, so the audience witnessed a huge battle with perfect performances. The second place however went to Maxim Kruglov (RUS) and third was Lucas Alves (BR). The best Czech rider was Maxim Habanec, who finished fourth.

The audience most interesting discipline BEST TRICK gave chance to those, who didn’t make it to the final so everyone was trying to perform their best during the 30min jam. The winner was again Rišo Tury, who landed technically very challenging trick FS hardflip bs tailslide bigspin kickflip out and proved that this race was under his direction.

"I am very excited about this year as we have moved the level a lot higher again. There was unbelievable number of spectators, who created an atmosphere I have not experienced for a long time at any of the World Cup stops. I would like to thank to all those who took part in the event for a long time in advance and, of course to the fantastic fans who made it clear that what we do is fun and that is the best reward for us and at the same time a challenge for other years," said the organizer Event Tomáš Vintr.
