Richard Tury wins 4th edition of International Skateboarding event FLOWGRIND in Slovenia

Sunny weather, lovely skatepark and whole bunch of skateboarders turned Slovenian town of Nova Gorica for 4 days into a small California.

4th edition of International Skateboard Contest that goes by the name of FLOWGRIND attracted around 60 competitors and even larger number of wider skateboarding community from 13 countries (even from Mexico and USA) for some fun, skating and good times in general.

Couple of big names showed up to secure themselves a slice of a 6000€ of prize pool. The event officially kicked off on Friday afternoon with a Best Line Contest in the center of Nova Gorica, where organisers set up a nice line to present skateboarding to wider audience. Few hours of constant riding brought spectators on their feet and it was Benjamin Garcia from France, who took all the glory with Fakie Three Flip over the hydrant and couple of stairs, followed by Half Cab Noseslide Heelflip out on a bench, ending the line with a steezy Frontside Bigspin over the barrier. In the evening a whole happening moved to skatepark for some serious action in the pool, where young UK rider Alex "the quick feet" de Cunha stole the show.

Saturday belonged to qualifications and Sunday brought us finals with some badass skateboarding. Asia Lanzi from Italy secured herself 1st place in women category, while Monster athlete Riso Tury from Slovakia claimed his win with a flawless 2nd run that included a lot of technical tricks, sealing it with a Frontside Heelflip to Lipslide on a down rail over the double set (picture below).

We shared couple of words with Riso about Slovenia:

"It was my first time in Slovenia. Nova Gorica is a beautiful city with new city center and lot of really good spots for skateboarding like in Barcelona for example. I'm from Slovakia and Slovenia for me it's like my brothers country. I had really good time there and I'd like to come back again." 

As well as about his riding:

 "It was pretty hard I think, because level of skateboarding was sick. Everyone in final killed it like next level tricks in runs. I was nervous because I missed two tricks in my first run and then I had one more run and this one was clean. I think I was lucky with my last trick, because I landed little bit sketchy. I'm so happy I got 1st place though." reflected Riso.

It was another great, extended skateboarding weekend in Nova Gorica; Slovenia and we are looking forward to many, many more.
