Romanian Drift Championship – Stage 2 – Prejmer

Jun 092017

Where: Prejmer Circuit

When: 3rd – 4th of June
Mission: Kill all tires

The second stage of Romanian Drift Community’s – National Drift Championship brought together an impressive number of riders and fans alike, from both Romania and Bulgaria. We visited the Prejmer circuit that once again proved itself to be a technical course, given mostly to the layout that the judges drew, meant to highlight the driving qualities of the drift pilots involved.

Qualified in 1st with 95 points, at a 10 point difference from Stefan Stefanov (2016 Drift Champion), Calin Ciortan – Monster Energy pilot – tears down the competition and own the 1st step of the podium at the second stage of the 2017 Championship.
We caught up with Calin shortly after his champagne shower on the podium:

“I am glad to see that this kind of motorsports attracts big crowds, thing that could not have been possible without the organizers from Romanian Drift Community that ensured both the pilots’ and the tech teams’ comfort and the fans’ as well. Even though this circuit is dedicated to karting, a fast mind can, and has drew a technical course meant to entertain the crowds. Killed tires and clouds of smoke surely contributed to a memorable weekend. I am hopeful that we will be seeing each other again in such big numbers at the next round of the Championship that will be taking place in Rarau, Pojorata at a touge circuit in the mountain top.”
