SAM REYNOLDS WINS DOWNHILL CATEGORY AT NINE KNIGHTS MTB

Sep 102017

Freeride mountain bike legend Sam Reynolds claims victory in the Downhill category at the Suzuki Nine Knights MTB contest which took place in Reschenpass, South Tyrol, Italy. Reynolds was the dominant force on all the larger features of the course during the 99-minute jam format contest.

Compared to previous years the 2017 edition saw the Downhill bike category grow immensely with the majority of the competing athletes choosing their long travel bikes to tackle the new giant features that the course had to offer. This year’s win was especially sweet for Reynolds as he's been focusing his performance on the Downhill bike and larger big mountain free ride disciplines. Sam was tasked with the designing and building of the updates and new additions to the Reschenpass course making it a dream week for him.

“It really just all came together for me this year at Nine Knights. I've been out here for three weeks with Clemens Kaudela building the best course we can for the riders. We were able to make some really cool additions to the course with my favourite being the addition to the Big Bertha jump into a full line of large features. After DarkFEST and the FEST Series events that I’ve been focusing on recently, it was really good to have some larger and more technical jumps to ride at Nine Knights. It was so good to see most of the athletes bring out their big bikes to session the larger stuff and make the Downhill category so competitive this year. It was so rad to session the course we created with all my friends and to come away with the win is just the cherry on top.”

“I just love to riding big jumps – the bigger the better. It's really cool to see more and more events including large obstacles in their courses. I'm so stoked on this new direction in Freeride and hope to take more wins at these style of events – Thanks to all the riders for enjoying the course with me and for getting me fired up to send it for the win”
