Monster riders at the SAMXN Round 3 in Bloemfontein, South Africa

May 082017

The Bloemfontein Off Road Club hosted the third round of the Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA MX National Championship this past weekend.

Undoubtedly BORC has one of the best tracks in South Africa with its massive jumps that put even the very best riders to the test. Not only were weather conditions great but the track held out well and made for some of the best racing we have seen this season thus far which had the entire venue buzzing.

In MX1 it was Monster Energy Tintswalo Out of Africa Yamaha’s David Goosen, who rode super well and consistent taking home a well earned third overall with Black Racing’s Caleb Tennant who once again took second.

Unfortunately breaking the winning streak from the first two rounds of Monster Energy Tintswalo Out of Africa Yamaha’s Tristan Purdon was veteran Kerim Fitz-Gerald who took the overall win in the MX1 class.

Purdon still keeps the red plate with his lead in the seasons points.

In MX2, it was Husqvarna Racing’s Matthew ‘Maddy’ Malan who could not be caught.

Maddy made it 6 out of 6 and stretched his lead even further despite a the charging pack right on his heels. Multiple SA champion, Richard van der Westhuizen did the Husqvarna Racing team further proud and took second overall,

Goosen secured himself another third overall for the day, after battling some issues in Round 2 in Cape Town it's great to see him back on the podium.

Round 4 heads to Gauteng and will take place at Dirt Bronco in Krugersdorp on 3 June.
