The first race of the Greek Superbike Championship took place this Sunday in Megara, with Monster Energy rider Sakis Sinioris finishing first after a thrilling race.
Right after the start, Sinioris was sitting in second place, biting Haris Paraskevopoulos' heels, and Leuteris Pipos pressuring hard a few inches behind from the 3rd place.
Pipos takes a dangerous fall at the first left (turn) and the battle between Sinioris and Paraskevopoulos takes off, with Sinioris pressuring very hard, and soon taking the lead, with the latter constantly breathing on his neck and trying to reclaim the front. After the last turn just before the finish line, both riders battled head to head, but ultimately Sinioris finished first for just a split of a second, in a race that constantly kept the crowd in the edge of their seats.
"The last three days were so hard for me. I had a fall yesterday and that resulted in a minor injury and rear suspension damage. In the morning my team's mechanics worked tirelessly and had to overcome themselves to fix the suspension damage from the fall and bring the bike into alignment. After the start, I gave it a few rounds just to get the feel of the new suspension and after I was sure about the adjustments I had to make, I gave all i got for the W."
