Team GB Kick Off #MonsterEnergySWC In Style

Jul 022017

The 2017 Monster Energy Speedway World Cup kicked off in style with hometown heroes Team Great Britain taking the win in Event One this weekend.

The British team lined up against Australia, USA and Czech Republic at the Adrian Flux Arena in Norfolk, England and had the backing of thousands of passionate fans hoping to watch their team qualify straight to the Final in Leszno, Poland next Saturday.

We caught up with Aussie captain Chris Holder to get his thoughts on how the night went; “Obviously we are disappointed not to win tonight and get straight through to the Final but fair play to the GB boys, they were on the gas and they deserved to win.

“The World Cup is so tough and tonight was the same, you have to have four guys on top form and we weren’t quite there tonight so we’ll have to make do with the Race Off on Friday. Everyone knows how hard that meeting is but we’ve got to go there and pull something out of the bag.

“I had a good night personally, I felt a lot quicker and the bikes were working really well so I’ll take that going into the Race Off and it would be nice to get a repeat! We’re still in there fighting so we’ll see what happens.”
