Speedway legends Greg Hancock and Chris Holder are ready to launch Monster Energy’s assault on the Best Pairs Cup as they join forces with Polish charger Pawel Przedpelski once again for this year’s tournament.
The trio linked up last year to spearhead Team Monster’s charge and on Saturday March 25 they’ll line up together again in Torun, Poland for the first round of the three-part series – a venue which they won at last season.
The pairs format is unique in that it isn’t all about winning races, it’s about racing as a team and there is nobody better at that than Hancock and Holder who have developed an almost telepathic connection on the track over the last few years.
Last season started with a bang with the victory in Round One and they actually scored the most points overall, but the scoring system in place meant that they just missed out on the podium – something they want to build on this time around.
“The plan for this year’s Speedway Best Pairs is to keep the same team and build off what we started in 2016 with Greg Hancock leading the team followed by Chris Holder and Pawel Przedpełski as our reserve rider”, says Joe Parsons, manager of Monster Energy Speedway Team.
“You have some of the best riders in the world competing in this tournament so to take the fourth place was a respectful start, even though it was not the result the team was looking for. Maybe this year we can make some magic happen but it’s motorsports and anything and everything can happen, so we’ll see!”
After the first round in Torun the series heads to Gniezno, Poland and then finally Landshut in Germany, where Chris, Greg and Pawel will hope to be the team standing on top of the box.
