“THE GREATEST LIVING EXPONENT OF THE TT”: MC GETS SEGRAVE NOD"

Apr 012016

For a man that scrapes hedgerows and stone walls at speeds of 150mph and who continually proves his mastery around one of the scariest and most challenging race courses of the world it doesn`t take much to surprise John McGuinness. The 43 year old was however overwhelmed to pick up the prestigious Segrave Trophy this week and become just the ninth motorcycle racer in the ninety-six year history of the British Royal Automobile Club to do so. Named after the man who held both land and sea speed records at the same time the ‘Segrave’ was also bequeathed to the likes of Barry Sheene, Mike Hailwood, Carl Fogarty, Geoff Duke, Steve Webster, Joey Dunlop and John Surtees and JM’s outstanding ‘ownership’ and profile around the globe’s most renowned road race warranted recognition.
