THE WORD ALIVE DEBUT “HUMAN” VIDEO

Dec 052018

Arizona post-metalcore innovators The Word Alive have unveiled a video for “Human, the second single from 2018’s “Violent Noise” album. The track and video features a slight hip hop flavor, enlisting guest rapper Sincerely Collins on a chorus and verse of the track.

“If you hear we did a song with a rapper, you’re probably just like, ‘What the hell does that sound like?’, but it’s one of our favorite songs on the album.” vocalist Telle Smith

So what does a collaboration between The Word Alive and a hip hop star sound like? “Almost like if the Weeknd started a rock band. Really there’s no song or band that I can think of that sounds like it, and I love that. It’s so unique, and it has some of the coolest production on the record.” Telle reveals.

“It was just one of those magic things.”

Collins’ guest appearance was arranged by producer “Violent Noise” Matt Good (From First To Last), and came at a point when The Word Alive had parted ways with former bass player Daniel Shapiro and drummer Luke Holland. The change allowed the remaining core trio consisting of Smith and guitarists Tony Pizzuti and Zack Hansen the freedom and inspiration to continually evolve The Word Alive’s sound through the writing process. Speaking of their experience in the studio with Sincerely Collins, Telle tells proudly “He came in, we sat down, we talked about the record. He walked around—he didn’t write anything down, really. Then he came back and went into the vocal booth and did almost everything exactly how you hear it on the first take. It was just one of those magic things.”
