TT 2018: Preview of McGuinness talks

Jun 112018

A fortnight of sunshine beating down on the fastest road race in the world. After the dust settled, records had been broken and lap times smashed. 2018 proved to be an incredible year for the Isle of Man TT races.

The first ever 135mph lap, a new absolute record of the Mountain Course, and a new winner of the blue-riband Senior TT race. What’s more Michael Dunlop edged up the all time winners list with three more TT wins (Superbike, Supersport and Lightweight) bringing his tally to 18. Ian Hutchinson stunned the critics by defying the odds to once again throw his leg over Superbike and Supersport machinery after battling back from another potentially career ending leg injury.

The speed, the stories, the rivalries – like any championship, it all goes far beyond simply the action on track. To get a real insight into the poignancy of this years Isle of Man TT, we enlisted the help of 23-time TT winner John McGuinness. Although McGuinness has been currently forced to sit out from racing due to extensive injuries sustained when the throttle stuck open on his Honda Fireblade during the 2017 North West 200 ; there is no better rider in existence to explain the mindset of racing at 200mph inches away from walls and trees is all about.
