May 252016

The second episode of the video series dedicated to Valentino Rossi has been released on our YouTube! Watch it now!

If there is one race that encapsulates Valentino Rossi’s skill as an athlete and character then the levels of noise, adoration, colour and atmosphere found at Mugello could not be a better mark. The ‘fandemonia’ that follows The Doctor rages all weekend and is perhaps one of the most intoxicating experiences of the season. As we learned in 2016, his army of fans carry him through both the highs and lows of the sport.

“As an Italian Mugello just gives you more tenths in the right hand,” said former multi world champion Loris Capirossi: one of Valentino’s closest rivals at the circuit, which hosted their 2006 duel for victory that Rossi ruled by just half a second. ‘Capirex’ is one of several insiders, in addition to Valentino, that lend their thoughts and memories in this brand new episode of ‘Valentino Rossi: The Doctor Series’. Long-term Yamaha MotoGP mechanics Alex Briggs and Brent Stephens talk about working and being surrounded by Rossi-fever at the Gran Premio d’Italia. Vale’s closest confidantes have lived through the best and worst times in the Italian hills: from the first Grand Prix win in 1996 (he finished fourth) and his maiden victory in 1997 to the memorable track invasion of the early ‘00s, the special helmet designs, the one-off liveries, the seven triumphs in a row from 2002-2008 and the only serious injury of his two decade career with the practice crash and broken leg in 2010.

Filmed across the three days of the 2016 fixture with archive official race footage, new and exclusive opinions and thoughts from Valentino as well as his inner circle; this fresh unveil in the ‘Valentino Rossi: The Doctor Series’ takes us behind-the-scenes of the GOAT’s most intense and emotional weekend of the year. The high drama of the 2016 Italian Grand Prix saw the highs of Valentino’s pole position start being eclipsed by an engine failure as he raced at the front alongside teammate Jorge Lorenzo (who went on to spectacularly win the race).

More than simply a chronicle of two intertwined stories ‘Valentino Rossi: The Doctor Series’: ‘Mugello’ documents how and why a singular event across one weekend can mean so much to so many. And how one man can be at the centre of a twenty-year whirlwind and martial a passionate and obsessed audience.

This is Mugello. It’s his sacred slice of racing: it’s where his most evangelical supporters congregate. And what a show they produce together.
