Woodham podiums at FBS round 1

Having played host to selected qualifying rounds of the Gymkhana GRiD series last year, Barrel Sprint has become the event of choice for would-be GRiD racers, and has attracted an increasing amount of talent in the past 18 months. In fact it was at the Gymkhana GRiD final, also hosted at Santa Pod, where Luke closed out his 2015 campaign by winning the rear-wheel drive category in front of Ken Block and Ryan Tuerck.

At the wheel of his trademark Nissan S14, Luke put on a gritty performance in difficult conditions – which included snow, rain and everything in-between - to take a third placed podium, narrowly behind series regulars Danny Cross (1st) and Hadley Fulbrook (2nd).

“It was great to be back in the car and racing again. I’ve done some filming work over the winter, but this was the first proper competition since Gymkhana GRiD. I got a bit of a flashback when I lined up next to Danny (Cross), as we last went head to head in the final at GRiD. “The car went really well considering I’ve only done basic maintenance on it over the winter. With all the snow, wind and rain at Santa Pod, I felt like I could have done with a rallycross car. FBS is a great little series and I’d encourage more drivers to come and have a go. “It’s going to be big year for me – I’m building a new Gymkhana car, as my S14 has always been a bit of a drift/Gymkhana crossover in terms of the way it’s set up. I’m also really close to finalizing a deal for this years drift campaign, which I’m excited to hopefully announce soon.”
