2nd Annual Jossi Wells Invitational September 13th - 16th 2017

Aug 282017

In the beautiful alps of the South Island in New Zealand lies a stunning landscape. A resort town with views of soaring snow capped mountains, crystal clear lakes and outstanding natural beauty. Visitors from around the world are drawn to the breathtaking natural beauty that is Wanaka. The ultimate base for outdoor activities, it’s an adventure seeker’s dream with pristine rivers, waterfalls, native forests and mountains. A stone’s throw away from Wanaka lies a world class ski field and ultimate winter playground, Cardrona, which attracts skiers and snowboarders from around the globe. With wide open trails and challenging chutes and the Southern Hemisphere’s most extensive terrain park facilities, Cardona is the perfect setting for the upcoming 2nd annual Jossi Wells Invitational, September 12-15th 2017.

Sure to be a highlight of the 2017 winter season, the Monster Energy Big Air jump sits at an epic height of 90 ft. Get ready to see the world’s best skiers & snowboarders throwing down their best tricks on what last year’s athletes nicknamed the best kicker in the world.

“The jump is one of the best jumps I’ve ever hit”

“Probably the gnarliest, mellowest comp ever!”

“An unreal couple of days”

“The jump is so steep & long. Couldn’t really ask for anything better!”

“All time vibes”

The signature event celebrates the relationship between Cadrona and 2016 Winter X Games gold medallist, Jossi Wells, that spans over 20 years.

“Cardrona is my home mountain; I learnt how to ski here & spent every winter riding at Cardrona since I could walk.” - Jossi Wells

Monster Energy presents an epic activation area with cans of Monster Energy samples, our beautiful Monster Energy girls for plenty of selfie opportunities and sick tunes. The finals take place on Friday September 15 so head up to Skyline Ridge for an amazing view-point of the Monster Big Air.

The all-star line up of athletes expected to join Wells includes Olympic Gold Medallist Snowboarders Sage Kotsenburg & Jamie Anderson, fellow Belgium snowboarder Sebbe De Buck, NZ local Will Jackways, and British skiing sensation James Woods.

“I’m super hyped I get to go to Jossi’s event this year. He is the sickest dude and the setup looks insane. Plus Wanaka is the sickest town to hang out after riding with the homies.” - Sebbe De Buck

“I am definitely planning on hitting that jump. I was really bummed I missed out on it last year so I am counting the days until the event. We have a sick shred crew heading out there this year so it will be all time!!” - Sage Kotsenburg

This year Jossi is also adding a skate jam at the Wanaka Skate Park on Saturday September 16 and Monster will be there to present all the kickflippin’ action. With the beautiful unspoilt natural beauty of Wanaka as the backdrop, the Jossi Wells Invitational will surely be an unforgettable experience.
