Blame it on the go karts he toyed with as a young kid, or the dirt bikes he rode when he was a teenager, either way, Vaughn Gittin Jr is a motorsport fan and born racer, through and through. Known as JR to his friends, and for his foot-to-the-floor aggressive angle drifts to the screaming fans at races, Vaughn is one of the most recognizable figures in the global drift scene today. A self-taught drift driver, who, over a ten year professional career at the wheel of his ever-developing Black Monster Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR, has taken drifting from the streets of his hometown in Maryland on the east coast of the USA, to the international stage. He has won the Formula Drift Championship, been voted “Ace Driver of the Decade” for being the most successful driver in the series history, and become the only American driver to win a round of the fiercely contested Japanese D1 Grand Prix Series. Not only that, but in 2015, he celebrates his sixth year with Black Monster. Last year saw JR cap off another huge season including third place in Formula Drift, as well as making demo appearances at the FIA World Rallycross Championship, and Gymkhana GRiD. In between drift competitions, he also found time to expand on his incredible signature line of Ford Mustang RTR sports cars, as well as making his NASCAR debut in the Canadian Tyres series. Watch this space in 2015 for another awesome instalment from JR, including more Formula Drift, more European drift demo appearances, and a whole load of V8 fuelled tyre smoke.
