The next generation is here! Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Birk Ruud is one of the new pacesetters of freeski progression. Blending a natural talent for snow sports with a skateboarder’s eye for tricks and transfers, Ruud is the full package. Whether it’s getting tech on rails or sending big-time spins across the distance, the young Scandinavian shredder does it all with style and impeccable trick selection. During the off-season, Ruud blows up on Insta hoisting himself into bodies of water from bridges, cliffs, and diving boards, or literally bouncing off the walls at trampoline parks. While it’s safe to say that spinning through the air comes naturally, Birk also puts in work as a fierce competitor: In 2016, he turned heads by taking gold at the Winter Youth Olympics at Lillehammer in Freeski Slopestyle. A real triple-threat, he slays on SuperPipe and is also a top contender in Big Air, with back-to-back X Games gold medals at Aspen 2018 and 2019, plus a handful of FIS World Cup victories and the 2019/20 Crystal Globe trophy to boot. Not bad for a rookie, right? Watch this kid to see the future evolution of technical freeski and never forget: This is just the beginning!
