Karolina Kowalkiewicz: MMA Meets Dakar Rally

What have MMA fighting and the Rally Dakar got in common? More than you might think… grit, determination, speed, overcoming physical pain to push for the win, the list goes on…

For former KSW Women’s Flyweight Champion and all round badass - Karolina Kowalkiewicz - who is currently competing in the UFC - a dream crossover came this January. A chance to head out to Saudi Arabia for the 45th edition of the legendary Rally Dakar.

Invited behind the scenes with the Monster Energy HRC Honda Team, Hero Motorsports Team Karolina got to witness Adrien Van Beveren, Ricky Brabec, José Ignacio Cornejo, Pablo Quintanilla, Joan Barreda, Ross Branch and Franco Caimi shred part of their epic 5,000km route.

“It was an unreal experience to be out at the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia,” explained Karolina. “Having a chance to head out on to the stages and then camp in the bivouac with the teams, was a once in a lifetime experience! Huge thankyou to Monster Energy for making it happen!”
