SPEEDWAY’S ELITE READY FOR SON BATTLE

The great and the good of world speedway will line up in Denmark on Saturday night with one thing on their mind - Speedway of Nations glory.

The Speedway GP series has taken a pause as SON takes centre stage, with the top seven nations in the world going bar-to-bar for international honours.

Denmark, Poland, Great Britain, Sweden, Australia, Finland and Czech Republic will race in Vojens on Saturday, with Monster represented by five riders all hoping to be stood on the top step at the end of it all.

Tai Woffinden and Dan Bewley team up for reigning champions Great Britain, Patryk Dudek leads the polish charge, Freddie Lindgren captains Sweden and Jack Holder will hope to lead Australia to victory in what is set to be a super-charged night of racing.

This week saw two separate semi-finals take place at the same venue, with the top three teams from each event joining hosts Denmark in the final. Holder impressed as Australia cruised through alongside surprise package Finland in semi final one, but it wasn’t quite so simple for Dudek as he had to come through a last-chance race-off with Poland to get the final spot.

On Thursday it was the turn of Sweden and Great Britain, with Lindgren leading Sweden through with room to spare but Woffinden and Bewley needing to follow Dudek in winning the nerve-biting race-off.

 

That all sets up a mega night of action on Saturday, with 21 riders all ready to put it all on the line for their country.
