MMA Athlete

Paulo Costa

Brazil Brazil

Believe in your dreams! Paulo Costa developed a passion for martial arts at a young age. What’s more, the Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu fighter from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, even put everything on the line to become one of the greatest competitors in MMA history: In 2012, Costa quit his day jobs as a realtor and IT specialist to go all-in on professional fighting. Coached by his older brother, Carlos Costa, he first garnered international attention with his performance on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3”. What followed remains one of the most spectacular runs the UFC has ever seen: After making his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 106 in early 2017, Paulo Costa proceeded to dominate the 185-pound division like few athletes before him. His unbroken run of 13 wins, including 11 knockout victories, earned the Brazilian the nickname “The Eraser”. Plus, he also received a shot at the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 253 in 2020. Although the title fight dealt Costa the very first loss of his entire MMA career, the dream is far from over for the hard-working Team Borracha athlete. As Paulo Costa said in his own words: “I will be back stronger, very soon!”
