BIOGRAPHY

Tyron was raised by his mother in a family of 13 children in Saint Louis, Missouri. Every day was a struggle to survive in his large family. Tyron narrowly avoided a troubled adolescence in an impoverished neighborhood that was rife with crime and drug problems. Instead, Tyron chose to dedicate himself to academic goals and athletic achievements. In high school he received an All Conference Honors in football, was a two-time high school All American in wrestling, and accumulated a 48-0 record on his way to winning the 2000 Missouri State Wrestling title. On top of all these accomplishments, he still made honor roll every single term. Tyron continued to excel at the University of Missouri where he was awarded first Big 12 Champion in Mizzou’s history, and was named a two-time wrestling All American. Following his amazing wrestling career, Tyron dove right into the world of mixed martial arts. His MMA career began with an impressive 7-0 record, with all bouts ending by KO or submission. In 2009 Tyron made his debut with Strikeforce in front of a hometown crowd, with a win by submission in the first round. Following the victory, he signed a multi fight deal with Strikeforce where he has rattled off 7 consecutive wins. After defeating Paul Daley he moved up to Strikeforce’s number one contender for the Welterweight title. Despite his first career loss in a world championship fight against Nate Marquardt, Tyron put out a strong performance and soon made his way into the UFC. In his UFC debut, Tyron executed an impressive 36-second KO of Jay Heiron – and put the welterweight division on notice.
