In 2019, Slovakia’s Marek Zaprazny turned pro, a childhood dream come true. Malacky, his hometown near Bratislava, had very few spots to skate (forget about skateparks) but Zaprazny still managed to become one of the country’s most technically advanced skateboarders. Considering the country’s typically long winters, this seems like a nearly impossible feat. Today, Zaprazny lives in Barcelona, Spain, skating the city’s famously perfect spots as if he’s lived there his whole life. But if you’re a skateboarder as gifted as Zaprazny is, you could skate on gravel in the dead of winter and still have fun.
