Jose Vitor Leme remains week-to-week in his return from a groin injury that resulted in a core muscle issue that will keep him from competing for a third consecutive weekend.
The two-time reigning PBR World Champion is hoping his third missed elite, televised PBR event will be his last as the 25-year-old Brazilian bull rider focuses on winning an unprecedented third consecutive PBR world title.
“I am still recovering from the groin injury I sustained at the end of last season,” wrote Leme, on his official Instagram account. The Monster Energy rider continued his post by indicating he hopes to be 100 percent soon.
Leme, who has been rehabbing under the guidance of Jim Bui at Fit-N-Wise Rehabilitation & Performance Center in Decatur, Texas, was evaluated Monday by Dr. Tandy Freeman in nearby Dallas.
According to PBR.com, his core muscle injury is affecting a total of four muscles on his right side — two of his groin/thigh muscles, as well as an abdominal and oblique muscle.
Leme is coming off a record-setting season.
