We begin with the playoff stage and with Na`Vi taking on OG in a match many thought would be OG favored. Almost immediately you could tell how wrong peoples predictions were as Iceberg crushed mid on an unorthodox Doom pick while Rodjer and General took over the offlane. In each game V-Tune was able to pick up a quick first item and then Na`Vi showed what would turn out to be one of the key reasons this tournament went so well for them - they coordinated their teamfights almost perfectly. While OG managed to take a game off Na`Vi, it would be the only game Na`Vi dropped until they faced Team Liquid in the grand finals. They defeated their opponents with superior laning, map rotations, and team fight coordination all the way to the finals in consecutive 2-0 stomps.
Team Liquid on the other hand had a much rougher journey. In their first match they lost to Mudgolems 2-1 and found themselves in an elimination match against Nigma. Worse yet they lost the first game pretty handedly to Miracle’s Faceless Void. After that something just clicked with Team Liquid and it showed throughout their lower bracket matches. With their backs against the wall they gave Nigma two of the most one sided beatings we’ve seen in recent months. After that, Team Secret was on the receiving end of Liquid’s wrath and also Liquid’s fastest win of the playoff bracket. As team Liquid continued to pick up steam they even got revenge against Mudgolems, the team who sent them to the lower bracket in the first place, and met Na`Vi in the grand finals.
