Monster conquers Downhill Taxco 2018

Dec 172018

Sam Pilgrim and Brendan Fairclough celebrated Downhill Taxco’s seventh edition by taking podium positions.

British rider, Pilgrim, was crowned first place of the Best Trick competition, while his fellow countryman, Fairclough, placed third in the Downhill contest with a time of 1:58:33.

“I love to compete here. The ramps were perfect for the best trick part and I managed to pull off a Front Flip no hander in the first jump, a 360 Tabletop in the second and a Backflip no hander in the last, which got me first place and I am very happy”, said Pilgrim about his winning run at Taxco.

On the other hand, Fairclough said to be happy with his performance, “It’s always an amazing event. It’s crazy to ride down the streets so fast, let alone 42,000 people watching, so it was an amazing time and safe, so I am happy”.

Downhill Taxco kicked off the competition by midday with the Downhill category where every rider had the opportunity to qualify with their best time during two rounds of Downhill racing. After that, the Best Trick contest began with judges grading complexity and extension of each of the three jumps on the course.

More than 32 riders from 12 different countries put on a show in the streets of spectacular Taxco with about 42,000 fans who enjoyed the most anticipated urban downhill competition in the world.

This 2018 Downhill Taxco event ended by injecting adrenaline into all the alleys of the small town. Next year’s race will try to out-do this year’s and the entire Monster Energy Team will be back to Silver Town and pump up all spectators once again.
