Monster Energy Rolling Loud New York: Weekend Recap

Nov 082021

Returning for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic brought the music world to a halt, Rolling Loud NYC 2021 pulled out all stops, and Monster Energy was a huge part of the action. Giant inflatable aliens welcomed guests through the front gates, and the three-day festival was out of this world. Travis Scott, 50 Cent, Jack Harlow and more gave electrifying performances at the event, which went down at NYC’s Citi Field over Halloween weekend.

Rolling Loud is always more than a music festival, and this year didn’t disappoint. The 2021 festival featured an insane amount to see and do, from a haunted house hosted by 300 Entertainment and sponsored by Monster Energy to a skate park, a half basketball court, and plenty of merch and food trucks for attendees to choose from.

The high octane musical performances not only played out across three days; it played out across three stages: Deleón, Audiomack, and Punx. Day one saw artists like Rico Nasty, Joey Bada$$, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, 50 Cent, and Jack Harlow, with the latter bringing out Lil Nas X to join him for “INDUSTRY BABY.”

On the second day, Wale, Rick Ross, City Girls, Trippie Redd, Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, and J. Cole took the stage. Q-Tip made an appearance to perform “Vivrant Thing” alongside Wale, while Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert reunited on stage to play their song “Shoota.” Sheck Wes, A$AP Ferg, NAV and Travis Scott wrapped things up tight on day three, with Scott performing fan favorites like “Mamacita” and “Butterfly Effect” as well as dropping a new song that’s rumored to be from his upcoming album Utopia.

The weekend also saw mind-blowing sets by a lineup of Monster Energy-sponsored artists. R&B singer Ayanis, Brooklyn emcee Dupree G.O.D. (the winner of Rolling Loud’s Got Bars? Twitch livestream program), and Benny The Butcher blew away crowds from the Rolling Live main stages, with veteran DJ Statik Selektah serving as the performing DJ for Nyck caution on the Audiomack stage. DJ Saige got the festival rolling right with a knockout performance from the Monster Energy rig while fans swigged samples, followed by DJ Stakz who stepped up to the rig on Friday, and DJ Statik Selektah who took over on Saturday to bring on the loud.

Wowing fans and making them feel welcome is key to any festival, of course, and Monster Energy girls were front and center, hanging with the crowd, offering up beverage samples in the area facing the main stage, and taking part in a photo and video shoot right in the middle of NYC’s Times Square. Street artist Colors was also on the scene painting a vibrant mural as the festival kicked off. In addition, Monster Energy friends and sponsored event Sneaker Con was out and about doing fit checks at the Monster Energy hospitality area.
