The first WSL QS10, 000 event of the year is currently underway in South Africa at the Ballito Pro presented by Billabong. These are the highest ranked Qualifying events only open to the worlds top 100 surfers from around the world. The Ballito event has a strong history of epic tuberides and airs in amongst the hunt for massive points on offer. Typical winter conditions in Durban are morning groomed offshores and then hi-f air conditions as the wind switches mid morning. This morning the action heated up with the Round of 96 getting underway. Last year’s Zigzag Wave of the Week winner Michael Rodriguez threw down a 9.57 to set the pace for the day.
