They don’t call him the Miracle Man for nothing. Ian Hutchinson continued his absolutely incredible form at the 2016 TT today by winning the second Monster Energy Supersport race, by a margin of 17.5 seconds, ahead of Michael Dunlop. Not only does the result pull him level with legendary motorbike racer Mike Hailwood – on 14 career TT wins – but it also makes him the most successful rider ever in the category having now won eight Supersport TT’s in total – including all four Supersport races in 2015 and 2016. The win also sees Hutchy clinch the annual TT Joey Dunlop Championship with an now unbeatable lead of 95 points. Better still Hutchy did it all on Team Traction Control and Keith Flint’s stealth black Yamaha R6 machine complete with a killer matt-black and M-claw green livery. Commenting on his back-to-back doubles in the Supersport category, as well as the fact that he has now nailed four wins out of five TT’s he has competed in this fortnight, Hutchy said: “The bike has been faultless. Massive thanks to the entire team and Keith for all their hard work. We’ve had a brand new bike this year. Last year we had a new engine for each race, and the levels of performance weren’t quite the same between them. This time round we were determined use the same engine for both races. It’s been pretty heavy going to be honest – with the great conditions in practice week the 600s had about 9 laps on them – but the bike hasn’t missed a beat.
