A true proponent of doing it yourself, Colton’s rise to the spotlight has been rather independent of the BMX industry. With no solid sponsors, he’s gone from relative unknown to winning not one, but two consecutive gold medals in X Games Big Air in 2014 and 2015. Outside of the contest scene, Colton is working hard to promote an event in Pocatello, Idaho— the town he started riding in—called Ramp Riot. To quote Colton, “We did it solely to push inspiration there and it was cool to see the positive impact action sports can make.” That sentiment that sums Colton up quite well as he’s looking to go into 2016 to push the progression of what you can do on a BMX bike and help people realize that they can fulfill their dreams just as he’s done.
