When you mix insane talent with a salacious appetite for winning, quite often you’re gunna get a pretty successful result and no-one is proof of that more than the brilliant Jorge Lorenzo. The Malaga-born speedster burst onto the scene way back in 2002 on the 125cc circuit and he’s just never looked back, sweeping all honours before him since that day 12 years ago. After three years Jorge moved up to the 250’s and from that point, all the way back in 2006, he has never finished below 4th in a series - winning four of the eight he’s competed in.
He grabbed two title wins on the 250’s, in ’06 and ’07, but he didn’t just win - he utterly dominated for both seasons. That made Jorge’s name as the biggest talent in motor sport and he decided it was time to step up to the biggest and best motor sport championship in the world with Yamaha. His debut season saw him finish 4th, a pretty incredible rookie campaign, and since then he has won two world titles and finished 2nd three times, becoming the man to beat in the paddock in the process.
2014 was a pretty quiet year for Jorge but he still managed to hit the podium 11 times, taking two wins, and he finished in third place overall. Not bad for a quiet year, huh? As well as being a demon on two wheels he’s also pretty handy on four, winning the Gulf 12 hours race in 2014 with his team after an epic effort. His smooth as silk riding style and ruthless worth ethic mean this is no more of a racer committed to throwing everything at his craft than Jorge. ‘A fifth world title was won in 2015 and now a magnificent challenge in the blood red of Ducati awaits.
