Joan "Bang Bang" Barreda is one of the youngest and most promising motorcycle athletes to fill the Dakar Rally entry list and run the gauntlet of challenges and demanding terrain that constitute the FIM Cross Country Rallies World Championship. Spain are the "Everest" of the international motorcycle racing landscape and with Barreda they have a first class "mountaineer"; the 33 year old (34 in August of 2017) was schooled in national and international motocross, Enduro and made a toe-dip into Rally in 2011. Now a six-time veteran of the Dakar, Barreda scaled the peak of the world’s toughest rally in only his third attempt by celebrating four stage victories and then picking up five in 2014 and another four in 2015 to further consolidate his position as the hottest prospect through the climes of the 9000km South American chase.
