Presenting the first Mexican-born champion in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship! Hailing from Tijuana, Brandon Carrillo Moreno’s story reads like a blockbuster movie: From appearing on The Ultimate Fighter reality television show in 2016 all the way to making history as the new UFC Flyweight World Champion five years later, Moreno’s rise has been unstoppable. The black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has shown his grit and determination throughout the journey. He even kept the dream alive when he found himself released from the UFC in 2018 and spent a brief stint in the Legacy Fighting Alliance promotion. Fully reinstated as a UFC fighter in 2019, Moreno fortified his fighting style with the team at Entram Gym in Tijuana and kept the wins coming. Sure, Moreno is possibly one of the kindest, down-to-earth personalities in all of mixed martial arts. But once that Octagon door snaps shut, a different character emerges: Quick to strike and lethal on the ground, ‘The Assassin Baby’ has taken out the most challenging contenders (the majority by submission and KO). His crowning moment arrived when he took the 125-pound division belt from Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 263. Now Moreno wants to use his position as Mexico’s first UFC champion to continue the work of icons like Cain Velasquez and Henry Cejudo in advancing the sport in the country. And keep taking down challengers, of course, since that’s what Brandon Moreno was born to do!
