Peetu Piroiinen crowned with second Air and Style title.
Monster Energy rider Peetu Piroiinen smashed the competition at Air and Style Innsbruck-Tirol 2012, winning his second title. The Finnish snowboarder blew the competition out of the water, laying down super technical spins to take home the elusive Air and Style ring.
The 12,500 strong crowd partied all night in the -20 degree weather to watch the insane line up of international riders battle it out on the huge kicker and rail set-up. The qualifications saw some ridiculous tricks thrown down, including a near-miss triple cork by Canadian ripper Mark McMorris and plenty of doubles across the board.
The bar was raised for the Superfinal, with Seppe Smits, Niklas Mattison, Sebastian Toutant and Peetu left to show the judges who had the trick of the night. Peetu stepped up and threw down a perfect Backside 1260 Mute to take the lead with 91.70 points. Seppe Smits came close with the same trick Cab, but couldn’t take the glory from the Finnish hero.
