Monster Energy’s got probably the hottest American off road racer right now in Ricky Dietrich. And to prove he can flat-out fly in the dirt, he’s also picked up for an injured Ryan Villopoto on the Monster Energy/Kawasaki MX team and has been knocking down top six/seven 450 class positions on the Lucas Oil AMA MX Nationals tour. The 2008 AMA Racing Athlete of the Year, Dietrich led Team USA to an International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) bronze medal in Serres, Greece. The medal would be USA’s first ISDE team medal of any sort since 1982. Dietrich finished 2nd overall in the event and was the top American finisher.

 

Back here in the States he was equally as brilliant in a the relatively new sport of AMA EnduroCross, or arena-based off road racing. Dietrich won EnduroCross’ overall EX Pro premier class by winning one event and being the only competitor in the series to qualify for all six main events – a tough feat in itself on a course that features giant boulders, logs, sand, mud and a water hole, all right there on the track about the size of a hockey rink! Dietrich, young by off road racer standards at 21-years-old, is also back contesting the World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS) this summer, looking to win back the top class’ title that he first captured in 2006.
