Bewley places 3rd at DeWalt Speedway GP of Poland – Torun, Lindgren’s 3rd

Published On:: 29/09/2024

With a 3rd place podium finish at the final round of the 2024 FIM Speedway Grand Prix season – the DeWalt Speedway GP of Poland – Torun, Dan Bewley would be the lone Monster Energy speedway racer on the podium on Saturday at Marian Rose Motoarena, while Monster Energy’s “Fast” Freddie Lindgren, who made the Torun finals and placed 4th, did secure an overall podium spot for the World Championship season, placing 3rd with 141 points.

“I’ve had a lot of ‘ups,’ been a lot of podiums, but I have to eliminate my bad rides – that’s for sure,” said Lindgren, who made his 3rd career overall SGP podium this summer. “I got the bronze… and not a nice value medal.”

Lindgren continued: “I’m not the one to give up. So I’m going to come back stronger next year, hopefully. Work stronger in the winter time and give a lot of push for 2025.”

At Torun Lindgren would score 14 championship points, highlighted by three heat race wins (Heats 1, 4 & 5) and a win in Semi Final 1.

Placing 3rd on the night, Bewley would come in behind Lindgren in the championship points with 127 – good for 4th place and a spot in next year’s SGP lineup. After three 3rd place heat finishes, Bewley turned it on when it counted at Torun, winning Heat #2 and making the finals podium.

“We had a bit of a rocky start, a few injuries to get us going,” said Bewley, as he recapped his ’24 SGP season. “But once I got the fitness back again, everything’s been good. Nice to win again in Cardiff (Wales) and then two podiums after that.

“Slow start but a solid end. And it’s just got me revved up for next year.”

Also transferring out of the top six (6th) to the starting grid for the 2025 SGP season was Monster Energy’s Jack Holder. Holder’s 106 points were five points out front of 7th place Mikkel Michelsen for the final ’25 grid transfer spot.

Said Holder of his ’24 SGP rookie season: “It started off with a bang, got my first GP win (Croatia), was doing alright after that, but then had a few crashes, sort of got lost with my bikes and the setup. And that’s tough to get out of. I spent many, many hours practicing and practicing. Tonight I was back to my normal self a little bit, and am stoked I made it through to next year.”

So with Lindgren, Bewley and Holder all receiving golden tickets to next year’s SGP season, Monster Energy’s Patryk Dudek has a shot to make it as well at the 2024 FIM Speedway GP Challenge at Pardubice’s (Czech Republic) Svitkov Stadium, Oct. 4, where the top four racers (out of 16 invitees) race for a spot in the 2025 SGP starting gate.
