Herlings Puts Bow on MXGP Title with 1-1 Finish at Darwin
With his sixth career MXGP title already in the bag, Monster Energy’s Jeffrey Herlings kept ‘er wide open through the final round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) and won the MXGP of Australia with another stellar 1-1 performance.
Herlings stood atop yet another all-Monster Energy podium sweep at Hidden Valley Motorsport Complex where Romain Febvre (2nd) and Tom Vialle in (3rd) joined him.
On the season points tally, Herlings netted 973 points, which put him 168 points ahead of 2nd place overall Febvre (805 points). Monster Energy’s Tim Gajser then made it another all-Monster Energy podium in the premier MXGP class with a 3rd place overall finish with 659 points.
At Hidden Valley, Herlings would top Sunday’s morning warm-up session by almost a half second ahead of Febvre. The opening MXGP moto would see Vialle score the holeshot, which was quickly erased by Herlings as he took the race lead from his Honda teammate on the track’s fifth corner. In the second moto, Herlings got out to a 5th place start, but "The Bullet” put the hammer down, winning the race by 3.6 seconds.
“Since Foxhill, seven or eight races ago, I’ve only been beaten once, so that is no big shame,” said Herlings. “I have had a really good year and the whole team did a good job. It was a big gamble to switch after 17 years on the KTM, and so far it has paid off to be quite a successful story.”
